What is the difference between the LED (Lean Encoder/Decoder) & SOED (Space-Optimized Encoder/Decoder)?

In general, the LED supports all of the features that the SOED does. You can find the exceptions to that rule listed in the "Restrictions" chapter of the OSS ASN.1 Compiler for C Reference Manual (section 7.8, April 2011 edition), as well as in the "Restrictions" chapter of the OSS ASN.1/C API Reference Manual (section 9.4, April 2011 edition).

If you need to use any of the SOED features or APIs which are not supported by the LED, you can link with both the SOED and LED libraries as described in the documentation for the -lean compiler option in the OSS ASN.1 Compiler for C Reference Manual (section 4.3.43, April 2011 edition).

The samples included with some of the Knowledge Center answers are meant for your general understanding of the OSS products. Different versions of the products might produce slightly different outputs. Consult the products documentation and samples for the most up-to-date products information and code examples.
