OSS ASN.1/C TOOLS 8.0 Beta B
New Rapid Application Development (RAD) Features & Improved Performance

New features help expedite application development by eliminating the need to understand the ASN.1 compiler-generated structures. New programmers become productive more quickly. The new RAD features result in faster application development and a decreased likelihood of errors being introduced into the code.

The new RAD features include:

New naming rules for ASN.1 types/fields supported by the compiler generate more user-friendly names.
Helper Macros generated by the ASN.1/C compiler create new instances of ASN.1 compiler generated structures and populate data into these structures.
For the SET OF and SEQUENCE OF types, linked-list types are generated by the ASN.1 compiler. The compiler also generates List APIs to manipulate these linked lists in the application program - for example, adding/removing a node to/from a list, updating, inserting a node into a list, etc.
New APIs allow users to set various debugging levels to control the amount of debug data that is generated at runtime while encoding or decoding the data, or while calling the ossPrintHex function.
A new memory management mode improves the performance of the decoder and of the helper functions and simplifies allocating and freeing C structures.
TOED BER and PER runtimes have been optimized for speed; the performance gain for BER averages 25%.

OSS ECN Tools - Version 3.0 Beta A, with Full Featured Tracing Now available

New features include full-featured tracing. Seven levels of tracing detail are available to simplify debugging. See how your encodings were constructed. When decoding errors occur, see precisely where the error occurred.

A new version of the OSS ASN.1 Tools for Java (Beta with E-XER) is available. The tools are optimized for better performance, and new methods have been added to convert binary data to XML and vice versa.

New features are:

The BER decoder performance has been improved. The decoder now runs up to 2.5 times or 150% faster.
New conversion helper classes have been added to provide conversion of data from one encoding rule to another. The EncodingRuleConvertor class facilitates conversion from any encoding rule (either Binary or XML) to any other encoding rule, while the Binary2XMLConvertor and XML2BinaryConvertor classes specifically handle conversions from Binary to XML, and vice versa.

Compile-And-Go Library -
Version 6.1 and 7.0 Beta A Now Shipping The OSS Compile-And-Go Library (CAGL) allows you to parse ASN.1 modules at runtime, and instead of generating C structs you can immediately use the OSS IAAPI library functions (included with the OSS ASN.1 Tools at no added cost) to create values, encode them, and decode messages. The CAGL frees you of the need for ASN.1 compiler output files that have to be compiled or linked with your application.
