What is the comparative performance of the different flavors of the OSS ASN.1 tools?

The OSS ASN.1 Tools for C includes several samples specifically created to assist you in obtaining performance numbers when using the various runtime libraries that come with the OSS ASN.1 Tool for C - see the "samples\advanced\performance_test" directory.

Using the instructions from the Readme.txt file included with the performance samples, you can easily change them to use your ASN.1 specification, such as 3GPP NBAP or ITU-T H.245.

Note that that the accuracy of the benchmark timings heavily depends upon your target machine's performance, the complexity of the protocol you are testing, and the size of the input message. This is one reason we created such samples to assist you in obtaining performance results for your target environment, rather than just publishing tables here from some arbitrary environment.

The samples included with some of the Knowledge Center answers are meant for your general understanding of the OSS products. Different versions of the products might produce slightly different outputs. Consult the products documentation and samples for the most up-to-date products information and code examples.
