Do you really support distinguished encoding rules (DER) or do you support just basic encoding rules in disguise?

The OSS ASN.1 Tools fully support the Distinguished Encoding Rules and the Canonical Encoding Rules.

Click on derset.txt below for more information.

You can download a working example below for either Unix and Windows.

If you have the OSS ASN.1 Tools for C installed, do the following steps to compile and run the samples on Unix:

  • Edit the derset.mak file to set BASE_DIR to the path where the OSS ASN.1 Tools for C are installed.
  • Then issue the following command and look at the derset.out sample output file:
    make -f derset.mak

On Windows use Visual Studio 2008 to run the example. You will need to do some simple adjustments based on the location of your OSS ASN.1 Tools installation for the include directory and for the soeddefa.lib static library.

The samples included with some of the Knowledge Center answers are meant for your general understanding of the OSS products. Different versions of the products might produce slightly different outputs. Consult the products documentation and samples for the most up-to-date products information and code examples.
