I previously implemented my application using an older version of the OSS ASN.1 Tools, and now I have to upgrade it to a more recent version. However, when I compile ASN.1 files using the new version of the ASN.1 compiler, some names are generated differently from those generated previously. What can I do to have the compiler generate the same names as it did in the previous version?

You can compile your ASN.1 files using your earlier version of the OSS ASN.1 compiler with the -keepNames option specified. This option will instruct the compiler to produce a .gen file containing global compiler directives for name preservation.

Then, you can use your newer version of the OSS ASN.1 compiler to re-compile your ASN.1 syntax passing the produced .gen file as the first command-line argument. The resultant output file will contain the same names as produced with a prior version of the OSS ASN.1 compiler.
